Your body, which is bonding millions of molecules every second, depends on transformation. Breathing and digestion harness transformation. Food and air aren't just shuffled about but, rather, undergo the exact chemical bonding needed to keep you alive. The sugar extracted from an orange travels to the brain and fuels a thought. The emergent property in this case is the newness of the thought; no molecules in the history of the universe ever combined to produce that exact thought.”

Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detox)
The Need to Cleanse

According to Ayurveda, our health depends upon our capability to fully digest in all aspects of our lives, assimilating that which nourishes and rejuvenate us and eliminating the digestive and other non-beneficial by products. Improper and incomplete digestion of our food, experiences, and emotions cause an accumulation of toxins in our bodily tissues, creating imbalance and finally leading to a disease .

Usually the body has a natural ability to properly process the elimination of these waste materials (Ama).  Due to repetition of our improper dietary habits, lifestyles, and genetic predisposition our digestive enzymes, hormones, and digestive fire (agni) which regulate our bodily internal balance and stability become disorganised. This will lead to accumulation of waste material called Ama.

What is Panchakarma?

Panchakarma is cleansing process that releases stored toxins (Ama) and helps to restore the body’s innate healing ability. It is the combination of five main procedures for eliminating the toxins (Ama) from the body in an effort to strengthening the immune system, and restore balance and well-being in both body and mind.

This can only be achieved if the body is been well prepared to release the accumulated toxins stored within the body.  These preparatory procedures are important In order to remove the toxins both from gastrointestinal tract as well as bodily tissue (dhatus).

Panchakarma is an Individualised  Detox Therapy

Panchakarma is an individualised therapy (chikitsa) and is based on each individual needs, Ayurvedic constitutional type,  doshic imbalances, age, digestive strength and other factors. Depending upon your individual needs all or only some therapies are used.

These procedures should be done by a certified and specially trained Ayurvedic Practitioner who can determine the individual’s prakruti (natural bodily energy), the nature of any health problems and the appropriate degree of intensity of this therapy.

PanchaKarma Procedure

There are 3 steps in Pancha Karma Therapy:

1. Pre-treatment or Purva Karma: in this period we prepare the body for the main treatment and it includes oil treatment, sudation and dietary guide lines.

2. The main treatment is the actual treatment which includes   expulsion of the excess doshas (toxins) from the body through  the five different actions or karmas.

3. Post treatment or Paschat Karma or rejuvenation therapies (rasayana): The final step of panchakarma is rasayana, a term that means “that which is nourishing.” Once the toxins have been released, this is a critical time to begin rejuvenating the body with natural foods and herbs, revitalizing massage treatments such as shirodhara and abhyanga , and healing  practices such as meditation and yoga.

The price for pancha karma differ to each individual case and course of the treatment.

The average price for 3 weeks full pancha karma varies from 3000.00$(This price does not include room and board and all taxes to be added)

This autumn my body was ready for detox as I had problems with my digestive system. I was and felt supported by Bita through this huge decision of mine. Going through my detox program I received treatments such as Abhyanga, Garshana, Marma and finally Shirodahra. After the detox program my body and mind feel much better and the digestive system is now feeling wonderful. I still continue following the precious advice received from my ayurvedic therapist. Since the detox, I have  lost 15 pounds and have not felt this great for a very a long time. I am applying every single day what I've learned from Ayurveda. Helen Gagnon
