It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what  sort of disease a person has.

Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.)

Garshana

Garshana literally stands for “rubbing”. It is a treatment that consists of a dry lymphatic skin brushing with either a wool or silk glove.  Raw silk is found to be more beneficial for individuals with Vata or Pitta body types, whereas wool is better for Kapha body types.

The brushing increases heat in the body, by enhancing circulation, and prepares the body for herbal oil treatments that will in turn affect the freshly cleansed pores of the skin.

Garshana is followed by a gentle warm oil massage which cleanses out the toxins and the excess water from the lymphatic channels, while calming the nervous system. It is a great therapy in skin care. Regular garshana treatments facilitate the breaking down of fat deposits by enhancing blood and lymphatic circulation. The heat produced in Garshana treatments removes waste from the body by improving the circulation.

Benefits of Garshana:

• Eliminating waste and improving circulation
• Activating the lymphatic flow
• Alkalizes the blood and detoxifies the body.
